Linda Champion is a seasoned attorney and a democratic candidate for Suffolk County District Attorney, bringing decades of public service, courtroom experience, and community leadership. Her legal career spans complex civil litigation, government counsel, and trial work, reflecting both proven leadership and a deep commitment to justice.
Her practice has focused on litigation, municipal, and regulatory matters, representing clients in Superior, District, Land, and Housing Courts, as well as before state agencies. As co-counsel to public retirement boards, she has managed high-stakes cases involving disability, survivor benefits, and workers’ compensation, demonstrating strong command of complex legal systems.
Ms. Champion previously served as District and Municipal Court Legal Counsel to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where she supervised assistant district attorneys, oversaw community prosecutions, and managed personnel across divisions. Her leadership emphasized both efficiency and fairness while maintaining strong community connections.
Earlier, she spent a decade as Assistant General Counsel to the Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Trust Fund, handling elaborate litigation, mediation, and settlement negotiations. She began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County, working with the Elders and Persons with Disabilities Unit—experience that shaped her commitment to protecting vulnerable populations.
A graduate of Suffolk University and Suffolk University Law School, Ms. Champion’s candidacy reflects a vision of justice rooted in experience, integrity, and community-centered leadership.

My grandmother, Flora Mae Champion, taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of expecting more from life. I am fortunate to have been raised by both a Black grandmother, and my Korean immigrant mother’s example of hard work. My father’s service as the only African American in his platoon as a U.S. Army MP in Vietnam showed me the meaning of grit and hard work. These experiences, both the deep scars of and impact of war and immigration, and hope and possibility, shaped my path and my candidacy for District Attorney.
I came to Boston at 17, newly graduated and homeless, with no safety net, money or plan—only my determination and optimism. I worked multiple jobs in fast food and retail, while attending night classes, often relying on the quiet support of community members who reminded me what it means to look out for one another.
Education became my path forward. I attended Newbury College and later Suffolk University, earning my law degree through Suffolk Law’s evening program while working full-time. Like many Boston residents, I built my future through persistence and hard work.
I have lived across the city, from the South End to Roxbury, Dorchester and Mass Ave., building deep ties to the communities that define Boston. I built my career, married, raised my daughter, and made my home here.
My professional life has always centered on service to Suffolk County. As an Assistant District Attorney, I handled cases affecting families every day and saw the importance of balancing accountability with fairness. That perspective guides my vision for the District Attorney’s Office: protecting vulnerable residents, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring justice is applied equitably.
As your District Attorney, I will prioritize addressing unresolved sexual assault cases, expanding protections for seniors against financial exploitation, and increasing transparency and accountability in the system.
Beyond the courtroom, I have worked to expand housing access and stability. Through partnerships with organizations like Urban Edge and Justice for Housing, I have helped create pathways to homeownership for low- and moderate-income families. I believe housing is foundational to public safety and community well-being.
For more than 35 years, my work in Greater Boston has been guided by a simple belief: everyone deserves a fair shot.
Suffolk County is not a place I passed through, it is my home. It shaped me, challenged me, and gave me the opportunity to build a life of purpose and service. I am ready to listen and serve as your new District Attorney.
